When Cal and Sam arrived from Milliways, they lost no time in hitting the shower: sand in the bed isn't much fun for anyone, after all.

So now the bottom of Cal's tub is finely coated with sand, but the bed is comfortably sand-free for post-coital lounging.

Cal's smile slips away as his expression turns more serious.

"Yeah," he says, reaching up to take Sam's hand in his. "I couldn't do it if I didn't like it.

"It's weird, though . . . sometimes I can't remember why it freaked me out so much when I woke up and you were a guy again, and sometimes -" He pauses for a second to find words. "Sometimes I remember exactly why."

He's comfortable with Sam now, and with what they do, but it still gives him pause every now and then to remember that this is a man he's so attracted to.

He curls his fingers around Cal's hands, squeezing a little as he nuzzles Cal's neck.

"Mm. That will fade, I think." I hope. "With time."

Cal squeezes back, smiling a little.

"I gotta say, you make it pretty easy to deal with."

If he really had to be attracted to a man, Sam is not a bad choice.

Sam chuckles.

"Good. Being pretty easy probably helps."

"I like when you're easy," Cal agrees.

"So - basically I always like you."

He smirks. "Now tell me something I don't know."

"Like what?"

Cal strokes his thumb over Sam's hand, trying halfheartedly to think of things Sam doesn't already know.

"I don't know." Sam is far too comfortable to come up with ideas. "Something."

Cal scoffs and kisses Sam's forehead.

"You're a big help," he says against Sam's skin.

Sam only laughs.

"Hey, one out of two isn't bad."

Cal just snorts at that.

He feels no further commentary is required.

"...Oh, shut up, Favourite."

[isaysimplewords]

"Hey," Cal protests. "For once, I didn't say anything!"

Sam is so unjust.

"You thought it."

Cal cannot fool Sam!

"Pfft, how do you know?"

Cal's memory can be very short and highly selective when he wants it to be.

Smugly, "I can read minds."

He can, too! (He wasn't just then, but that's not the point.)

"Cannot," Cal says. "You would have told me."

It's true.

"Can too!"

Beat.

"I wasn't just then, but that would completely invalidate my argument."

"Then maybe you shouldn't have said it out loud?" Cal suggests.

He, after all, cannot read minds.

[necessary_child]

"Yeah, but that'd be less fun," Sam says. "Also-"

Kissing Cal, it turns out, is even more fun than that.

Cal can't argue with that.

"That is a very good point," he tells Sam when they part.

Cheerfully, "I know."

[isaysimplewords]

"But I'm still right."

Just so they're clear.

"Nope!"

Pfft, like Sam was going to concede an argument that easily.

Cal would be confused if he did.

"No, I am," he says decisively. "Because -"

If the kiss argument worked so well for Sam, it'll work doubly well for Cal, right?
